InfoSWMM Calibrator

Model calibration is an essential part of engineering modeling. This process is required for developing a rigorous urban drainage network model that can be used with confidence in making reliable, cost-effective design, operational and improvement recommendations.

Until now, calibrating an urban drainage network model was an exhaustive trial-and-error process of adjusting the model input (sensitive) parameters using basic engineering judgment until the model results coincide with observed field conditions. To be effective, such calibration must consider extensive time series of measured data such as an entire wet weather season of a particular year, a year or even multiple years of actual flow measurement data to ensure that the model accurately simulates the actual physical system under all conditions. Because an urban drainage network model can contain dozens of sensitive parameters and the volume of available times series of measured data can be quite large, manual calibration is an expensive, time-consuming process and normally represents the most painful step of a modeling project. For this reason, model calibration is often not performed, or performed haphazardly.

InfoSWMM Calibrator makes it possible to automatically, reliably and expeditiously calibrate very large and complex urban rainfall-runoff models leading to better analysis and design. It uses the latest advances in Genetic Algorithms optimization technology for high-end performance calibration. It offers the fastest, most comprehensive micro-level water distribution model calibration capabilities available that allow users to produce optimal model calibration in just minutes. The program's incredible ease of data exchange and integration with existing network models and GIS systems further enhance its value.
